Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 2026
PROVISIONAL - This is a provisional draft of the Cookie Policy. It is provided for information only and may be replaced by a final version.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. The Service also uses browser localStorage (web) and expo-secure-store (native) for similar local-storage purposes.
Essential cookies
When you sign in, better-auth sets an HTTP-only session cookie that identifies your account. This cookie is strictly necessary to keep you logged in and to make authenticated API requests such as fetching your lessons, saving practice runs, and verifying subscriptions. Without it, you cannot stay signed in.
Local storage
On web, the Service stores a stable anonymous device id in localStorage so that pronunciation-assessment quota can be tracked for users who practice without an account (for example during onboarding). On native, the same id is stored in expo-secure-store.
Third-party cookies
We do not use advertising, marketing, or third-party tracking cookies on hibikivoice.com.
Our providers (Apple, Google, Speechsuper, OpenAI, MongoDB) may operate their own cookies or equivalent technologies as part of their services. Those are governed by the respective provider policies.
Managing cookies
You can clear cookies and localStorage from your browser settings at any time. Removing the essential session cookie will sign you out, and removing the anonymous device id may cause the onboarding trial quota to reset.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date.
